In this article, we’ll take a look at some things to consider before deciding on Hunting Blind Chair. Then, we’ll review and compare some of the ones available.

Choosing a hunting blind chair sounds simple, but you’ll quickly find a wide range in features and price.

Portable blinds, called ground blinds, pop-up blinds, or hub style blinds are what we’re considering Hunting Blinds for this article. However, these chairs will still work great in box stands, DIY brush blinds, behind a steak-out turkey mesh or even alone in the woods where you can camouflage.

Hunting Blind Chair Size and Weight

Chair size and weight considerations really comes down to hunting style. Weight is a major consideration if you’re a Run N’ Gun hunter and likely to move between hunts, or you have long hikes to make. On the other hand, weight isn’t much of a concern if you’re putting a blind out and leaving it all season or you can get close with your ATV.

Chairs constructed form steel can weigh upwards of 15 to 20 pounds. Aluminum chairs like the Millennium G100 weigh as little as 8.5 pounds. The material choice will have significant impact on the price.

Most of these chairs pack down to similar sizes. They all fold down flat and have a length by width at least that of the seat dimensions. This gives them a profile similar to packing a climbing stand through the woods.

The tripod model is an exception, it folds up similar to the classic camp and outdoor folding chairs. It’s more of a cylindrical shape and will fit into the pockets of ground blind bags.

Ground Blind Chair Pack Ability

Most of these chairs are built for comfort and not pack ability. Most come with a single sling, but I find that I rarely use it since I’m hauling other gear and a weapon. They will all haul well on a pack frame or bungee corded to the outside of a ground blind bag. Due to there folding nature, they are quite wide for pack frames and will stick out snagging on brush and vines when going through thick stuff.

Reliability and Durability

You get what you pay for when comes to Reliability and Durability. Aluminum will outlast steel, powder coating will outlast paint, and metal will outlast plastic. Those quality materials will cost more. First, determine the comfort, weight, and other features you want. Then compare materials and quality between chairs that meet your other requirements and still fits your budget.

Swivel Ground Blind Chair

Swivel or not to Swivel? Swiveling your chair can provide a much more fluid motion if you need to adjust your body position for an unexpected shot. Swiveling is almost always going to be worth it. It may not be important if your setup is a shooting house or fixed blind looking one direction. If you’re mobile hunting, or just hunt different properties and setups, then sooner or later you’ll wish you had a swiveling chair.

Hunting Blind Chair Materials

Seat materials are generally mesh or padded. A mesh seat is generally the best material for a hunting seat because your chair will inevitably be exposed to moisture while hunting or transporting. Whether its morning dew in the back of the truck, unexpected rain or snow, or a leaky blind or box stand, your chair will end up wet. A mesh seat will dry out much faster than a foam cushion seat.

The benefit of a foam padded seat are it’s insulating properties. A foam cushion seat will provide a warmer feeling and keep your bottom warmer than a mesh seat.

To get the best of both worlds, use a hunting seat cushion on top your mesh seat for added comfort or insulation during colder hunts.

Adjustable Height Hunting Blind Chairs

Height adjustment in you chair can be important for several reasons. If you have multiple ground blinds, they could have different window heights. Even with the same blind I’ve seen the need to adjust the seat height differently for looking uphill vs downhill. If your sharing your chairs with spouse or children, their height may be different then yours. Although you’ll likely need to adjust your body position in your chair for a shot, you want to be at a comfortable position while you sit and wait.

Several of these chair designs offer height adjustments. While a couple actually have adjustments in the seat, most are adjustable simply by the the legs.

Rhino Blind Foldable Swivel Hunting Chair

Most affordable option for long term stands with level ground.

The Rhino Outdoors RC-2281 offers a thick padded cushion seat and backrest made from 600D polyester. It offers 360 degree “silent” swivel. The frame is powder-coated steel and comes with a carry strap. With an MSRP around $60 its an affordable option. Without adjustable legs, you may find it difficult to level on sloped terrain. Lack of seat height adjustability means you’ll need to make sure it’s fixed height is compatible with your ground blind openings. The padded seat has the potential to soak up moisture when used in the elements. The added bulk of padded seating makes it more difficult to pack longer distances. With a padded seat and lack of adjustable legs, this would make a great affordable option for box stands or constructed shooting houses.

Alps Stealth Hunter

The Alps Stealth Hunter adds a fourth leg for more stability than three leg models. The foot pads are large to prevent sinking in soft ground. They are independently adjustable to ensure a comfortable level position in uneven terrain.

The seat height is adjustable, lending itself to multiple ground blind types. The seat material is mesh and is comfortable and quick drying. For freezing temps, you can add an Alps chair seat cover for about $15 to add some comfort and insulation. The frame is powder coated steel bringing the weight up to 14.4 pounds. With a 300lb. capacity and the adjustability of this chair, it’s weight is worth hauling in most situations.

Stealth Hunter Deluxe Hunting Chair

The only thing separating the Deluxe from the standard Stealth Hunter model is the armrest. The armrest are adjustable and removable, making it well worth the extra $10. Use the armrest around camp or for all day sits. Drop them for a run n gun hunts in the early season. Add an additional 2.2 pounds for the armrest on the Stealth Hunter Deluxe.

Summit Adjustable Shooting Chair

The Summit Adjustable Shooting Chair was designed with all-day comfort in mind. It has four adjustable legs, each with three adjustment heights for uneven terrain. The armrest are great for longer sits and are adjustable on the Summit. The contoured mesh seat and backrest provide comfort while still having the ability to dry faster than a foam pad. Bring along a hunting seat cushion on those subzero days for added insulation. The 360 degree rotation is very quiet. The feet are extra-wide and pivot to prevent sinking. The chairs packs up and lays flat as well as you could expect for it’s size. At 18.25 pounds it’s one of the heavier chairs we’ve compared, but Summit is known for a quality product and you expect years of use out of this chair. Hawk Stealth Spin Chair

The Hawk Stealth Spin Chair has a folding leg design similar to the Rhino chair. Although it has swiveling feet to adjust for slightly uneven terrain, it lacks adjustable legs often needed in hilly or uneven terrain. The mesh seat is a generous 16″ x 20″, slightly larger than some in this comparison. The back height is contoured and rises 21″. Due to its folding, non adjustable leg design, 17lb. weight, and pack ability, this chair is better suited for flat ground and short hikes or permanent shooting houses. With an MSRP of 99.99 it would be hard to choose this chair over the Stealth Hunter Deluxe for a mesh chair. And the Rhino RC-2281 has the edge for a budget or shooting house chair. But, if seat area is the prime consideration, then the Hawk Blind Chair has a slight advantage.

Rhino Blind Adjustable Swivel Chair Texteline

The RC-009 Deluxe hunting chair with adjustable legs from Rhino Blinds is another option with a mesh seat, adjustable legs and swivel capability. It doesn’t fold down quite as good as some other chairs, but with four adjustable legs it is a stable option. The Texteline seat fabric, designed for outdoor furniture is durable and provides UV and water resistance.

Millennium G100 Shooting Chair

The Millennium G100 Shooting chair is the lightest in this lineup due to it’s Aluminum construction. It also shaves some weight by using a three leg design vs four and lacks armrest. The legs are independently adjustable to help with stability on uneven terrain or adjust seat height. The mesh seat provides comfort for long sits. The chair sets up a little faster than the Stealth Hunter with its plug-in legs. Leg adjustments are slightly more difficult than the Alps, but the design feels more durable. Despite being the lightest weight hunting blind chair, it boast the highest weight capacity at 400lbs.

If you want comfort and light weight, it doesn’t get any better than the G100. Just be prepared, It’s lightweight and durable construction comes at a premium with a MSRP of $209.99.

Native Alert Blind Chair

The Native Alert Blind Chair has a padded backrest and 14″ x 13″ seat with 8″ deep pocket underneath. It features it’s exclusive dirt road camo pattern.

The chair folds up flat, but is still quite long when folded. At 8.8lbs, it’s a good option if you have to pack more than one and you have a pack frame or ground bling bag that will hold it.

The legs are not adjustable, so its best on mild terrain or shooting houses. The Native Alert does not swivel. With a MSRP of 39.99, this is great option if you’re budget is limited or you’re looking to keep the weight down and don’t mind the lack of features.

The Hunters Specialties Tripod Chair is for the minimalist hunter who doesn’t mind sacrificing comfort to save weight. At only 5lbs. this chair folds up tight and will strap to almost any backpack or slide into most accessory pouches on ground blind chairs.

This is a good option for children who might not mind the smaller seat. It’s smaller footprint is also beneficial for smaller ground blinds or adding a third person in a blind.

The Summit Chairpack is a hunting chair and backpack all in one. It features and adjustable position seat that goes from upright to reclined, great when you need a midday nap. The seat adjust from a height of 9 to 16 inches. With a weight of 7 lbs. it’s one of the lightest chairs, but while cutting weight, it also cuts comfort. Since this chair is already built into a backpack, it could prove more difficult to haul along with a ground blind. It could prove useful for situations where you leave multiple blinds out and pack your chair and gear along, moving between locations depending on the conditions. The backpack is approximately 20 liters.

Summit Adjustable Shooting Chair Vs. Alps Stealth Hunter Deluxe

Both the Summit Adjustable Shooting Chair and the Alps Stealth Hunter Deluxe have adjustable armrest and adjust with a flip-lock design. Where they differ is in the leg adjustments. The Summit has 3 position push button adjustment on each leg versus the Stealth that has a flip-lock design.
